About work

As an IT apprentice at Google, you’ll develop the skills necessary to become an IT support professional.

You will learn new technical skills such as troubleshooting multiple IT platforms, collecting and analyzing data, automating repetitive tasks, managing infrastructure and fleet remotely, security and IT policies and other industry practices.

We will provide you with everything you need to know to support our users. You will receive specialized training in networking, infrastructure and administration of cross-platform systems, and you will develop new skills through experience in communication technologies (video and voice), hardware, mobile devices and project management.

Learning will begin September 12 with a three-week virtual onboarding experience, followed by an immersive 6-week bootcamp with Google’s learning partner, Multiverse, to gain a foundational understanding of the profession.

Apprentices will then join a Google team to learn on the job, while continuing to participate in career-specific apprenticeships and workshops throughout the program. You will be assigned to a team and a manager for the duration of your 12 month apprenticeship. Towards the end of the program, you will receive holistic career readiness support and have the time and space to prepare for your next project.

A typical week in the life of a Google learner will require 40 structured hours of learning and working. You will follow a hybrid model, while striving to acquire the required skills.

You will dedicate 1-2 days per week to virtual classes with our external training provider, such as highlighting a particular concept or attending a professional development workshop. Your remaining days are spent gaining hands-on experience through different projects within your Google team.

This apprenticeship is intended for people who wish to acquire and develop basic technical and professional skills in computer science. If you are currently pursuing or have completed a degree in a computer science-related field, we encourage you to browse our internship and college graduate opportunities.
