Crystal Ventures relies on SAP S / 4HANA to transform business processes in group companies
NAIROBI, Kenya, October 26, 2021 – / African Media Agency (AMA) / – A lack of automation can undermine an organization’s efforts to be more efficient and cost effective and leave decision makers blind to real-time information on the market. ‘business. The data suggests up to 22% of a typical employee’s time is spent on repetitive tasks, with up to 10 errors per 100 manual data entry steps.
For CVL, one of Rwanda’s leading investment groups, the use of manual processes by several of its group companies has caused it to miss the benefits of automation, efficiency and agility to accelerate its strategy. growth.
“Our operational efficiency has been compromised by the use of manual processes in many of our business practices,” says Arnaud Muhizi, project manager at Crystal Ventures Limited. “Overhead was initially captured separately from the cost of production, which made it difficult to accurately plan for profitability, and our project management practice was operating at a sub-optimal level due to the lack of real-time reporting tools. . In addition, the plant’s production, HR, quality and maintenance processes were all manual and therefore lacking.
Crystal Ventures Limited is an investment company established in Rwanda in 1995 with the aim of meeting the challenges of economic recovery and taking advantage of growth opportunities in the region.
Since its inception, Crystal Ventures Limited (CVL) has grown to become the largest investment company in Rwanda, employing 12,000 people in the manufacturing, hospitality, security services and construction sectors.
Crystal Ventures approached several technology vendors and, following a rigorous evaluation process, chose SAP as the best fit for their needs. “We chose SAP S / 4HANA as the nerve center of our business and deployed integrated solutions that would cover our end-to-end business processes. “
With nine subsidiaries within the scope of deployment, Crystal Ventures worked with its implementation partner ISS Middle East to digitize all manual processes and implement a wide range of integrated SAP solutions.
The processes covered by the implementation include human capital management, document management, project management, quality management, materials management, plant maintenance, production planning, finance and cost control; and sales.
The entire project took place over eight and a half months, with 3,000 users integrated into SAP SuccessFactors and 450 users integrated into SAP S / 4HANA.
“Since our commissioning, senior management has gained real-time visibility into the performance of project managers, which has contributed to greater efficiency and revenue growth in our construction and manufacturing businesses,” said Arnaud Muhizi. “In addition, our costing model enables affected businesses to perform business cases, and inventory aging reports are now available to aid decision making and planning. “
End users were guided through the process changes through regular awareness sessions and extensive training to ensure rapid adoption. “We also reorganized the functions of the department to reflect best practices and standard processes, and provided the SAP Learning Hub to the core team. We had regular contact with the Customer Success Office to make sure the implementation went smoothly and affected users could easily use new tools and processes.
Hardeep Sound, Regional Sales Manager for Eastern Africa at SAP, says the breadth of implementation and breadth of process coverage has completely transformed Crystal Ventures and the companies in its group. “Following this historic implementation, Crystal Ventures has leaped into the future by laying an unshakeable foundation for building intelligent business capabilities. By automating outdated manual processes and improving visibility into key business performance areas, Crystal Ventures is able to more effectively guide its group companies through the complexity of the modern business environment.
