Altamira Announces New $ 8.5 Million Space Mission Data Processing Award


MCLEAN, Virginia – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – The US Space Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) awarded Altamira Technologies a prototype project contract worth $ 8.5 million for the provider of data processing applications Mission (MDPAP) Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE).

The FORGE program office, located within the Cross-Mission Ground and Communications Enterprise, is leading the modernization of national ground-based missile warning systems for new generation and legacy programs. The contract was awarded by the Space Enterprise Consortium (SpEC) using an agile program management methodology to rapidly develop a prototype that can be transformed directly into operational use.

Altamira received one of three awards for developing a prototype mission data processing capabilities that will be a key component of a new ground control system supporting the current Space Infrared System (SBIRS) and satellite d Constellation Next Generation Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Overhead Missile Alert. After the prototype phase, a team will be selected as the mission data processing provider for the future system.
