AFC appoints Sportradar as video and data distribution partner

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) called on the services of Sports radar, signing an eight-year global data and video rights contract with the digital media company, spanning 2021 to 2028.

The agreement, which was negotiated by Football Marketing Asia (FMA), will see Sportradar collect and distribute audiovisual content and match data from AFC national team tournaments and club competitions.

The agreement covers major events such as the Asian Cup 2023, hosted by China, and annually AFC Champions League on two separate cycles; 2021 to 2024 and 2025 to 2028.

“We welcome Sportradar as an official video and data distribution partner,” said the AFC General Secretary, Dato ‘Windsor John, commented. “The deal will bring AFC football closer to a growing international fan and consumer base.”

Since 2013, AFC has used Sportradar’s integrity services to monitor corruption and betting related incidents within its competitions. Last year, both sides took the option of extend the agreement from 2020 to 2023, with AFC saying that since partnering with Sportradar it has seen a 21% decrease in match fixing across Asia.

Sportradar took over the contract for Powerful statistics who acted as the official data provider of the AFC during the 2017/20 cycle.
